๐ PDF to Word Converter
Turn PDF text into an editable Word document. Paste the text from your PDF and download a Word-compatible .doc file โ free, private, no upload.
Need to edit text that’s locked inside a PDF? Our PDF to Word Converter helps you get that content into an editable Word document. Select the text in your PDF (in any reader), paste it here, and download a Word-compatible .doc file you can open and edit in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice โ all in your browser, with nothing uploaded anywhere.
Why this approach? PDF is designed as a fixed layout format โ the same page looks identical everywhere. That’s great for printing, but it means the text isn’t naturally “editable.” The most reliable way to recover editable content is to grab the text layer (every PDF reader lets you select text with your mouse or Cmd/Ctrl+A) and rebuild it as a Word document. This tool does exactly that, in seconds, without any account or install.
Typical uses: quoting a passage from a report or e-book, turning a scanned email attachment into something you can edit, extracting a recipe or instructions to adjust portions, or pulling key paragraphs out of a contract or policy to annotate them. Because everything runs locally, it’s also a safe choice for confidential documents you don’t want to upload to an online converter.
One honest note: pasting the text preserves the content โ words, sentences, paragraphs โ as a clean editable document, but it does not recreate the original PDF’s visual layout (columns, fonts, images). If you need a pixel-perfect editable replica of a complex design, a desktop PDF editor is a better fit. For the vast majority of “I just need to edit this text” situations, this converter is exactly what you need.

How do I get the text out of my PDF?
Open the PDF in any reader (Adobe Acrobat, your browser, Preview, etc.), click into the page, press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on Mac) to select all the text, then Ctrl+C / Cmd+C to copy it. Paste it into the box above. Some scanned or image-based PDFs have no text layer โ for those, you'll need OCR first, which this tool doesn't do.
Does the download preserve formatting, fonts, and images?
No โ this converter rebuilds the *text content* as a clean, editable Word document. Paragraph breaks are preserved, but visual layout such as columns, exact fonts, and embedded images is not recreated. If you need a pixel-perfect editable copy of a designed layout, a desktop PDF editor is a better choice.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. The text stays in your browser and is turned into a .doc file locally using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server, which makes this tool safe for confidential contracts, personal notes, or anything you don't want leaving your device.
Will the .doc file open in my word processor?
Yes. The generated file is a Word-compatible HTML-based .doc document that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and most other word processors. You can then save it as .docx if you prefer the modern format.
