How the conversion works
The tool stores a single reference price for each asset measured against the US dollar: BTC at $65,000 and ETH at $3,500 per the static reference values built into this tool, alongside USD (1.00) and EUR (0.92). The math always runs through dollars as the common base:
- Convert your amount into US dollars. Multiply your amount by the “from” asset’s rate. So 2.5 BTC × 65,000 = $162,500.
- Convert those dollars into the target asset. Divide the dollar value by the “to” asset’s rate. So $162,500 ÷ 3,500 = 46.428571 ETH.
This works identically for fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-crypto. Whether you go BTC → USD, USD → BTC, ETH → EUR, or BTC → ETH, the dollar always acts as the neutral bridge, which guarantees consistent results in every direction.
Worked example: You receive 0.05 BTC as payment and want to know its euro value. 0.05 × 65,000 = $3,250, then ÷ 0.92 = €3,532.61.
Worked example: You have €1,000 and want to buy Ethereum. The tool treats EUR as 0.92 per USD, so €1,000 ÷ 0.92 = $1,086.96 in dollar terms, then $1,086.96 ÷ 3,500 = 0.31056 ETH.

Edge cases and rounding
- BTC shows 8 decimal places, ETH shows 6. This matches exchange convention: Bitcoin is commonly quoted to 8 decimals (satoshis are 10⁻⁸ BTC), while Ethereum is typically quoted to 6 decimals. The tool formats results to these standards automatically.
- Tiny amounts. Because crypto prices are high, small inputs produce very small fractional results. Entering 0.001 BTC converts to a small but non-zero USD figure, and the precision settings keep it readable.
